Adopt A River and CYEN visit Arima Girls RC and Arima Boys RC schools.

The Caribbean Youth Environmental Network (CYEN) has embarked on a series of school tours in a project called the “Water Warriors School Caravan” and Adopt A River was there to lend our support.

Check out pics from one of our first Water Warriors’s Training Programme. This programme was held in Guanapo where we trained 25 community members in testing water using a basic water quality testing kit. They were also taught in first aid in order to ensure their safety in the field.

The member of the Caribbean Youth Environment Network T&T Chapter started work on their community survey on Saturday towards their AAR project “Learn and Flow: The Arima and Courland Water Story”.

The Guanapo Community & Environmental Development Organisation (G-CEDO) first water quality testing in the Guanapo River.
On October 20th 2012 G-CEDO members visited 4 sites along the Guanapo River to collect water samples and perform field tests for 7 parameters

Another very active organisation registered with the Adopt A River Programme is the Social Justice Foundation/Good Media Eco Youths Network.

On 19th November, Adopt A River had a field visit with Ministry of Agriculture to the Guanapo Watershed. Sites along the Heights of Guanapo Road were identified for the construction of check dams which will help reduce the silt runoff to the river. (more…)
