Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) is the process which promotes the coordinated development and management of water, land and related resources, in order to maximize the resultant economic and social welfare in an equitable manner without compromising the sustainability of vital ecosystems. The Adopt A River Programme began in 2012 as an IWRM initiative aimed at coordinating corporate entities, community groups and other stakeholders to develop projects in order to improve the status of rivers in Trinidad and Tobago.
