World Rivers Day Community Training

On the 18th September 2016, The Adopt a River Programme Implementation Unit and the Global Water Partnership joined forced for a community training programme which was hosted by the St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, Barataria. Over 60 persons from 12 communities participated in a lively discuss on the importance of water, rivers and water management in Trinidad and Tobago.

A list of the communities represented are:

  • Caura
  • Caparo
  • Kernahan
  • La Savanne
  • San Juan
  • Arima
  • Mayaro
  • Maracas
  • Barataria
  • Moruga
  • Santa Cruz
  • Mausica
  • Diego Martin

The communities were able to learn of each other’s watershed issues as well as discuss their experiences, good and bad, in managing their rivers.

It was indeed a very frutiful event for all in attendance.
