Guanapo Community and Environmental Development Organization (GCEDO)
The Guanapo Community and Environmental Development Organisation (GCEDO) was formed out of a meeting hosted by WASA in January 2012 where the Adopt a River Program was launched to the residents of the Guanapo Catchment. The group has won the support of the Mayor of Arima, the MP for Arima and the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation. Twenty-five community members received water quality training in September 2012 after which they began a water quality monitoring program covering five points within the catchment. Every month, the residents of the area diligently collect and analyze water samples from these locations. To date, they have completed 1 years’ worth of data.
