RiverSpeak Spoken Word Competition<\/h1>\n

Do you have an interest or a passion for the environment, our water resources or the quality of your life? Is poetry or spoken word a passion of yours? We at the Adopt A River Programme (AARP) and the water and sewerage authority want to hear about it. RiverSpeak 3 – “Water: Value, Conserve, Restore”<\/h3>\n

The third instalment of the annual RiverSpeak spoken word competition was held virtually for the first time. The competition which usually features live performances was instead completely hosted through video submissions and online voting. The competition was launched as a joint venture between the Adopt A River Programme (AARP) and WASA\u2019s Corporate Communications department.[\/vc_column_text]

RiverSpeak 2 – \u201cOur Rivers, Our Watersheds, Our Responsibility\u201d<\/h3>\n

Following the success of the first edition \u201cRiver Speak\u201d Spoken Word competition, the decision was made to hold a successive competition. On Friday 7 th June 2019, the Adopt A River Programme in collaboration with the Water and Sewerage Authority Corporate Communications Department hosted \u201cRiver Speak 2\u201d Secondary Schools Spoken Word Competition, at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) O\u2019Meara Campus, Arima. \u201cRiver Speak\u201d was conceptualized with the aim of providing a forum for Secondary School students to speak out on the challenges facing our rivers and watersheds, using the medium of spoken word.[\/vc_column_text]

RiverSpeak 1 – \u201cSpeak Out in Defence of Our Rivers\u201d<\/h3>\n

The Implementation Unit of the Adopt A River Programme hosted its first spoken word competition under the theme, \u201cSpeak out in Defense of Our Rivers\u201d. The competition directly targeted Secondary Schools\u2019 Environmental Clubs or the general school population for those without clubs. There were approximately 30 entries and the top 15 was chosen after judges\u2019 deliberation.[\/vc_column_text]
