Annual Conference

Each year the AARP hosts a stakeholder conference to achieve the following:

  • Highlight the work of the AARP over the previous year.
  • Raise awareness of the issues facing our rivers and watersheds.
  • Highlight projects and activities undertaken by stakeholders to alleviate stressors on our environment and measures taken to conserve and preserve water.

2022 – Connecting the Dots…Harnessing Technology and Innovation.

The Adopt A River Programme (AARP) hosted its 5th Annual River Conference on Tuesday March 29 th 2022 under the theme “Connecting the Dots…Harnessing Technology and Innovation’. This year’s event featured innovative technologies for the efficient use and management of our water resources. In keeping with our mandate of promoting and supporting the sustainable management of our water resources and protection of our watersheds, the conference exposed our stakeholders to viable and accessible solutions for managing our limited water resources.

2021 – Connecting the Dots…Becoming Agents of Change.

The Fourth Annual River Conference was held on Monday, March 22, 2021. This day also commemorated the observance of World Water Day internationally. The theme for this event was “Connecting the Dots…Becoming Agents of Change”. In order to achieve sustainability, there has to be mental change which then manifests through action and is cemented through behavioural change.

2020 – Connecting The Dots…Mentoring Towards Sustainability.

The Adopt a River Programme Implementation Unit hosted their 3rd River Conference on Friday, March 6, 2020, at the Trinidad Hilton. The theme for this year’s Conference was “Connecting the Dots……. Mentoring Towards Sustainability”, designed with the youth in mind and the main focus of the Conference. As a result, various secondary schools from around our lovely twin island of Trinidad and Tobago were invited to attend and participate. Various youth speakers shared their experiences and stories of being good stewards for our environment and watersheds, adding to the ongoing movement of achieving sustainability for all.

As the regulatory body responsible for the watersheds of Trinidad and Tobago, the WRA works closely with us in fulfilling our mandate of watershed improvement
