Trees play an important role in the health of our rivers and watersheds. Trees assist the soil in retaining moisture, they modulate the temperature, and they release water vapour back into the water cycle for precipitation (rain). Trees also help to stabilise soils, mitigating the risk of landslides; as well as reducing the likelihood of flooding by arresting the flow of water over the land. The AARP conducts tree planting exercises with our partners to improve the health of our watersheds and to contribute to the maintenance of good water quality and quantity in our rivers.
