The International Coastal Clean-up Trinidad and Tobago (ICCTT) under the Caribbean Network for Integrated Rural Development (CNIRD), in partnership with Angostura Chill, conducted a clean-up exercise at Caura on Saturday November 25th, 2023. The goal was to gather and document various types of waste littering the river and surrounding area.
Over 800 pounds of garbage consisting of 25 bags of plastic and cans, 20 bags of glass and 30 bags of general waste, were collected by the various groups and organisations invited to participate in this initiative, aimed at creating healthier watersheds and by extension a healthier environment.
The Adopt A River Team was pleased to be part of this exercise along with other partners consisting of over 200 volunteers! Some of the groups include Spartans TT Basketball Club, Caribbean Youth Environment Network TT, Naparima District Scouts Group, Forestry Division, ICARE and a few of our nation’s Secondary Schools.
