School Participation and Competition

The Programme has successfully completed schools based participation in the following areas:

  • Water quality monitoring of rivers in support of School Based Assessments (SBAs).

The Programme has assisted schools such as North Eastern High School and Holy Cross High School in completing water quality monitoring in rivers as part of their School Based Assessments (SBAs).

  • School-based competitions such as the “In the Know with H2O – Adopt A River” Competition in 2013.

In 2016, the Programme hosted the “In the Know with H2O – Adopt A River” Competition. Sixteen finalist schools went forward to the finals where they competed for first place of TTD100,000. Presentation College, Chaguanas were the winners of this competition.

  • The programme has also helped schools host their own internal competitions such as Balmain Presbyterian School Song/Dance/Poetry/Storytelling Competition held in 2016.

In April 2016, Balmain Presbyterian School registered with WASA’s Adopt A River Programme to implement an art/dance/song/poetry/story-telling competition on the theme of water. The event occurred on the 4th July at the school compound. There were three (3) levels of competition within each of the category:
