The Adopt A River Structure consists of three groups:
– The AAR Program Team (also referred to as the Secretariat)
– The Steering Committee
– The Adopters
The primary purpose of the Steering Committee is to approve, monitor and advise on the projects under the Adopt A River Program.
The Adopt-a-River Steering Committee comprises representatives from the following organizations:
The Adopt A River Secretariat consists of members of the Water Resources Agency who manage the Adopt a River Program under the guidance of the Adopt a River Steering Committee.
The Roles and Responsibilities of the Secretariat are to:
(i) Guiding the Adopter in order to ensure the success of the program;
(ii) Providing background information on the watershed including safety literature; and
(iii) Developing miscellaneous policies
(iv) Recommending projects
(v) Coordinating and managing the Adopt a River Program
(vi) Communicating with all stakeholders
(vii) Facilitating meetings
(viii) Monitoring projects
(ix) Collating documents and data
The Adopters are those communities, organisations and companies who register with the Programme and who facilitate projects for the improvement of watersheds across the country.
